The latitude and longitude of the earthquake are given in
decimal degrees. The latitude is the number of degrees north (N) or
south (S) of the equator. The longitude is the number of degrees
east (E) or west (W) of the prime meridian, which runs through
Greenwich, England.
Depth is the distance below sea level in kilometers. If
the depth of an event is not satisfactorily determined by the data,
it is held to a default depth, and the Location Quality shows "depth
fixed by location program."
Magnitude is a measure of the
size of an earthquake or strain energy released by it, as determined
by seismographic observations.
The region name is usually an automatically-generated
name from the Flinn-Engdahl (F-E) seismic and geographical
regionalization scheme. The boundaries of these regions are defined
at one-degree intervals and therefore differ from irregular
political boundaries.

a nearby geographical point to the earthquake location.
